
Alma S. Hubbard, 97 passed away, Sunday, October 23, 2016 at The Hearth at Windermere Senior Living Community, Fishers, IN. She was a former resident of Falconer, NY for 50 years and of Wauwatosa, WI for 12 years, before moving to Fishers, IN in 2012.
She was born July 7, 1919 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of the late Edward and Alma Smith. She is survived by her son William Jr. (Renate) of Indianapolis, IN, beloved nieces, nephews, and her cousin Susan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband William “Bud” Hubbard Sr. who she married on January 20, 1945 at Camp Callen in La Jolla, CA and who died on January 31, 1995; and three sisters; June Jentz, Edna Mingirulli, and Ellen Smith.
Alma received a diploma in nursing from the University of Cincinnati in 1940 and later, advanced training in physiotherapy from Northwestern University Medical School. She was employed as a registered nurse at WCA Hospital in Jamestown, NY before retiring in 1978. While residing in Falconer, Alma was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Falconer and served on numerous church committees, a member and president of the board for the Falconer Public Library for many years, president of the South Side Elementary School PTA, Cub Scout den mother, advisor to Future Nurses of America at Falconer Central High School, and tutored immigrants in reading English. Her favorite hobby was oil painting on canvas and china painting. Alma loved to sing and was a member of her church choir and the Mozart Chorus of Jamestown. While residing in Wauwatosa, WI, she was a member of the church choir at the Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church. Often adventurous, Alma took downhill skiing lessons when she was in her early 50s. In their retirement years, Alma and Bud stayed active by traveling the world, visiting family and friends, and square dancing.
Visitation will be held November 17, 2016, at Falconer United Methodist Church, 201 N Work St., Falconer, from 10:00 a.m. until the memorial service begins at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Levant Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the nurses, aides, and management staff at The Hearth at Windermere and the nurses and chaplain at Kindred Hospice for their loving care given Alma.
